FUN, hypothetical question for a Saturday morning:

You're in your local hobby store, which sells anything wargaming-related you wish (!), and you're given $1,000 USD USD (or equivalent), to spend then and there.

What would you buy?

For me, I think the latest GW sets, Adeptus Titanicus and WAoS, and couple extra Titans, and then the rest on 1/72 WWII model kits, early war (for which I have a passion/addiction).

I would buy a painted 28 mm Austrian Napoleonic army. That is my dream. (Helmeted German infantry, Grenz with brown coats, Foundry/Perry figs). Then I would start working on a Bavarian or French opponent army.

More 4 Ground and Sarrissa buildings.

I would try to track down the Ireland 1920 figures I was forced to sell off due to dire financial need, and see if I could get them back.
Then I would get some of the Sarissa and Charlie Foxtrot buildings to do the town of Ballywickwack.
Come out ye Black and Tans!

Soaring Soren18 Aug 2018 9:16 a.m. PST

I'd get all the single models I need to complete all my sci-fi and fantasy armies and warbands.
And some pre-painted scenery. Lots of that. And a magic storage cube to put it all in…

rmaker18 Aug 2018 11:20 a.m. PST

Probably mostly books.

I would check out the local clubs including school clubs for junior members and donate them any necessary basics to get them going.

Me, I largely need nothing that I don't already have.

Must Contain Minis18 Aug 2018 1:16 p.m. PST

For me, I would try to get them to hire out some commission work to paint up some of my minis. If that wasn't an option, I would look into getting the new Lord of the Rings Box Set, Some Bolt Action Minis, some Pike and Shotte Starter Armies and the new Humans for Oathmark by North Star Military Figures.

Stryderg18 Aug 2018 1:54 p.m. PST

I would start projects in all the genres and scales I want to. Start them, mind you, wouldn't have enough to get everything I want.

French army from Calpe miniatures.

I would need to spend some of that money on the following:

- Washes and paints
- Dremel tool and bits
- Order a couple of neoprene mats through the store
- NWL Chopper II styrene cutter
- Lots of styrene rods, tubes, corners and molded sheets. And glues.
- Smooth-On Liquid Rubber for molds ("OOMOO-30")
- Order a couple of Hirst Arts Egyptian accessories molds through the store
- A few store gift certificates to share the joy

And that's just for starters. :)

Most of my spending is not in hobby shops, so I'm really not sure. I have so much stuff -- see my posts on the lead mountain topic -- that I really don't need any more. What I need is more free time and a better workspace.

I would eventually find things to buy: a board game or two of which my wife has expressed interest in having her own copies; a gift certificate of maybe $100 USD-$200 so that I could return and buy paint when I run out or my paints dry out; maybe the current edition of Call of Cthulhu. That still leaves me with probably $650 USD unused.

I don't even know any underprivileged gamers to whom I could give a gift certificate. That's no surprise, I guess, especially living at the edge of the Silicon Valley.

What's on clearance and will it build complete playable forces?

sneakgun18 Aug 2018 6:24 p.m. PST

For Athos the poor musketeer, it is too much. For the Comte de la Fère it is too little.

Too many choices, my brain would explode….

Half a finished garage to be the "game room".

Borderguy19020 Aug 2018 3:24 p.m. PST

A couple new SAGA armies, and the rest on Team Yankee stuff I won't paint for 5 years.
