Just out of curiosity, has anyone bothered to follow the links that keep popping up in ads on duh interwebs that purport to show you the "correct" way to play the lottery or slot machines? Me? I can't be bothered. But I wonder if anyone with too much time on their hands did. |

I live in Las Vegas, the epicenter of the Universe for slot machines, if you want to beat it there is a very simple rule. Don't put any money in it and walk away. |

I figured out a system to beat computer Roulette, but it only works great with "unlimited" betting (racked up 2 million 'points' in about an hour. Only got High Score bragging rights, no actual money. ;-) Smaller betting limits take longer, but there is still a consistent payout. Haven't tried it against an actual Roulette table, but maybe someday… ;-) |

House wins 95% of the time, and you only bet with what you are willing to lose |

I'm talking about the ads that guarantee you will win. How to spot a slot that is "due". How the casino can't stop you. That kind of nonsense. |

Having worked in Reno, the only safe bet, is never bet. Best odds: single deck Blackjack (good luck finding it anymore) only a 3% advantage to the house. Next is Craps. Slots, Keno and Roulette are too favored to the house. |

Its not fair for you to beat a slot machine, it only has one arm…. |

Bashytubits and Timbo W beat me to the answers. No one ever walks out of a casino with the casino's money. You may be ahead of where you started and walk out with that dude over there's money … and some of hers … and this other couple's … Rest assured, however, the house still got their cut. You can't beat something that's random. Digital electronic games of chance are not random. They're pseudo-random. You can predict them. Predicting a d6 size random number generator with a primitive algorithm at 95% confidence over a range of +/- .1 takes hundreds of millions of consecutive observations. |

Lucky enough that I broke even for the day at a casino in Indiana about 20 odd years ago. The track ,not much different. Old adage here;"Horses don't bet on people, that's why they never go broke" ;^) |

"Its not fair for you to beat a slot machine, it only has one arm…" That's because it didn't let the Wookie win… |

Beating the lottery can be done. It sure worked with the Massachusetts Lottery. All it takes is a good application of mathematics and a lot of legwork. link |

Beating the lottery can be done. It sure worked with the Massachusetts Lottery. They didn't beat the lottery. The specific lottery intentionally paid out extra money to keep the total jackpot low. All they did was snipe it from other winners. If they pulled in $1 USDM or so by purchasing over $600 USDK of tickets, they didn't get a lottery windfall. ~50% return is great for a month's worth of work is really great. |
