King's Mountain. I had ancestors there. The issues had a lot to do with a screwed up British deployment, leading to some questionable tactics. The Rebels quite wisely maximized their "fire and fall back" tactic. As for Guilford, most of them ran and didn't stop the British. My point remains that militia skirmishers, for the most part, are going to be 2d class and unlikely to settle an engagement by themselves. |
