"The Battle of Wartenberg is generally considered a trigger and preparation for Leipzig as final battle of the fall campaign of the year 1813. Before the Battle of Wartenburg there had already been some fighting after the ceasefire on 17 August. Under the command of Napoleon about 500,000 men were ready for the coming campaign. The Allies had a similar number of men, divided into three armies and a few small formations and garrisons. The three armed forces were the North Army under Bernadotte, the Swedish Crown Prince Karl Johann, the Silesian Army under the Prussian General Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher and the Bohemian Army under the Austrian Field Marshal Karl Philipp zu Schwarzenberg. Supreme Commander of all armed forces was also the Austrian Schwarzenberg…."
