We asked – TMP link Do you generally purchase the most expensive figures or models that fit into your gaming budget? And the #1 answer (40%) was "I buy the best figures that fit in my budget" The #2 answer (16%) was "I buy the best, regardless of cost" The #3 answer (14%) was "I'm a bargain buyer" |

I buy the figures that better fit my wargaming needs. Besides, I am a slow painter. Don't need too many to keep me entertained before I need to buy more. |

I want to game with my toys before I die (not really a joke, I'm serious). I am an army painter, spending on average, 10 minutes actual painting time, per figure (block painting), then Magic Wash/The Dip. I have over 1,000 25mm-28mm figures I can put onto my gaming table, all completely painted. They are GEtGW, at arm's length. I still have a few hundred in the painting queue… I value every day as a gift. I am getting older, every day. Not to be morbid, but I really want to enjoy my toys, as my sons are not that into miniatures, so when I die, they likely will go to Good Will, or the trash. Just being realistic. I play as many fantasy battles as I can, but life gets in the way with things like earning a living, putting food on the table, paying for housing, retirement, etc… Why can't we just play? Life would be more fun, if we could skip all the serious stuff… Cheers! |

The "best I can afford" is not always the most expensive. Only under duress will I buy from Battlefront. A perfect example is a box of 5 plastic PzIV tanks. I can pay $25 USD from Plastic Soldier Company or twice as much from Battlefront. I consider the PSC superior in quality. This goes back to their resin tanks too. Twice (or more!) as expensive as other manufacturers, with no discernible quality difference. In many cases the cheaper ones are superior. As for AWI, I've long since built up my core army. If Perry comes along with something nobody else makes, like Volunteers of Ireland, they're really not all that much more expensive. Historicals, with one or two exceptions, do not have a Cult of Manufactures built around them. A Sherman is a Sherman. A Roman Hastati is a Hastati. An Old Guard Grenadier is an ….. |
