My regular opponent Dave has been busy putting together early war forces for Chain of Command in France 1940 and this was our first time using them and playing anything from this early in the war. A very different feel from late war, not least because armour has a bit more freedom to roam without the constant threat of panzerfausts, PIATs or bazookas. Some interesting command challenges with the more cumbersome four squad platoons, particularly for the French but overall very enjoyable and we will certainly be playing more. Thank you. I really enjoyed early war, plenty of unusual weapons and as I said, a less threatening environment for armour.

TacticalPainter,

Another great looking game and riveting battle report! I have enjoyed all of the CoC games posted on your blog!

Do you know the manufacturer of the French and Germans?

Do you know the manufacturer of the French and Germans?

I checked with Dave as we used his miniatures for this game. The Germans are from the Kelly's Heroes range produced by Grubby Tanks. The only exception was the PaK36 gun and crew which came from SHQ. The French are all from Early War Miniatures. Vehicles were mainly from Milicast. I hope that's useful.

Thanks, TacticalPainter! That is very helpful. I have been eying up early war in anticipation of the new handbook and this combined with your battle report could push me over the edge!
