I have seen this addressed on other media and perhaps here. That said, what is the coolest wargame or strategy board using miniatures ! Some are elaborate and others are but lines in the sand. And of course folks all love the Game of Thrones. BUT my all time favorite is Tommy's wargame in the Crown. He and the Queen debate the battle. Waterloo she exclaims. Interestingly the figures the Queen picks up are British (troops of Sir Edward Pakenham's Third Infantry Division says Tommy Lascelles , according to the subtitles) conveniently placed behind French lines for dramatic effect I suppose ! But on closer inspection the Brits have a Waterloo shako and the house is from the Airfix Waterloo set. The Queen was right.
And here are the Game of Thrones tables

If you can find the right episode of The Avengers, John Steed fights both a land and a naval miniature wargame with an adolescent guest star and loses both. Or the episode of New Tricks with Lane and his Prussians at the local club, celebrating his victory--"This man is an alcoholic, and you are all idiots!" |

Let's not forget how Stannis defiled his wargaming table at Dragonstone when he hurled the gaming pieces on the floor to …. make a smoke demon with Melisandre. |

There was an episode of Midsummer Murders where a chap being investigated had a room filled with 4'x 6' diorama tables, each with a different battle. I saw it a number of years ago. |

Callan – Edward Woodward in that role plays two games set up for the film by Peter Gilder, Gettysburg and Waterloo, from memory. After the game he assassinates his opponent, and that's after he's won!
