Do you have any armies from your country?
If so which ones?
So far I've got no Norwegian armies. I did start on a small Norwegian medieval army but didn't go anywhere.
I do plan on both GNW Norwegian force and Norwegian Napoleonic force.

The only thing I have painted is an Ogre Mark I for invading Canada. I do have some AWI in 28mm I hope to paint up someday. For the historical periods I am most interested, the US does not exist.

I am also interest in Weird West, and have a smattering of USA and CSA figures for that.

Winston Smith11 Aug 2018 1:20 p.m. PST

I have both sides in AWI.
I used to have both sides in ACW but sold them.
I have Yanks in Flames of War, have British and Soviet's. But I have given to the Axis Demand and am compiling Hungarians.
War of 1812? Naaaah. Let someone else in our group do them.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP11 Aug 2018 1:24 p.m. PST

Lots of Americans--AWI, 1812, ACW and WWII. But also my ancestral homeland--Hanoverians and Westphalians. There is an Alsatian connection, and I do have French armies, but I do not regard the two as related.

I like to play the Brits and Americans in battles in which they are involved and have extensive ECW, ACW and naval forces for them with some suitable adversaries.

mad monkey 111 Aug 2018 2:11 p.m. PST

Americans for Dust 1947, though I got the Axis and SSU too. Both sides of the ACW, yet to be painted.

FusilierDan Supporting Member of TMP11 Aug 2018 2:29 p.m. PST

Lots of stuff from my native country but nothing for Czech, except of course for the Austrian army which always had a fair share of Czechs in it.

ACW both sides, WW2 US in 15mm. Rest of my collection non-native Napoleonics ( French, Russian, Prussian), WW2 28mm Brits for skirmish games, HYW English in 15mm, British & Spanish sailing ships, 15mm WW2 Germans. So by shear numbers way more non-U.S….

British colonials for Jenkin's Ear. By and large, my other wargaming period interests predate the birth of my country.

I have a reasonably sized force of Confederates, but never got around to painting an adversary, or playing.

EDIT: Wait, I forgot about weird west- that, then.

AWI, SYW, WW2, Wings/Sails of Glory, Colonials, Medieval…British/English..so rather, old chap!

Brownand12 Aug 2018 3:13 a.m. PST

Yes, but not out of patriotisme but just to show that Dutch military historie also has a lot to offer. So we are battling in the WAS, Nine Years War, Napoleonic, French revolution,80 years war, and the medieval and early renaissance periods of the Gueldres wars

I thought the question was asking about armies rather than individual models?

Personal logo etotheipi Sponsoring Member of TMP12 Aug 2018 4:48 a.m. PST

I have a few American armies. And a few sets of modern generic armies that could serve as Americans. I also have a large number of modern combatants that can, and have, been used to represent Americans.

I'm not sure that has anything to do with patriotism.

rustymusket12 Aug 2018 4:50 a.m. PST

I have both sides from the ACW. When I began them, I was awaiting Foundry (Perry's) AWI figs which were rumored for over a year to be coming. I had begun to feel I should have something from the USA instead of just Dark Ages and Napoleonics. I finally settled on their ACW and began collecting it. Then they finally issued the AWI figs. I am collecting a US Marine Corp force for Bolt Action, with the help of a friend.

roving bandit12 Aug 2018 8:19 a.m. PST

I have Native Americans for French Indian War.
I have colonial Americans for War of Independence.
I have Union and Confederates for American Civil War.
I have Americans for Western Front WWII.
I have just started 3d printing an American Battle Group for a Team Yankee style WWIII setup.
I have lots of figures for Post-Apocalypse America too.

I don't think it is much about patriotism. I have forces for different sides in all the conflicts I have listed, plus loads of conflicts that have nothing to do with USA.

Axebreaker12 Aug 2018 9:15 a.m. PST

28mm F&IW all combatants
28mm Americans for AWI plus all the rest of the combatants
Have started collecting 28mm Texas War of Independence
ACW both sides in both 28mm and 15mm
US for WWII both 15mm and 28mm plus I have Germans

I have Ancient Britons (Airfix and 25mm metal), Mediaeval Welsh, 24th Regt. for the Zulu Wars (later South Wales Borderers) and I have just decided that my WW2 British should be the Welch Regiment !

And then there are the lord of the Rings Elves, clearly based on the Welsh !

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP12 Aug 2018 11:15 a.m. PST

The lord of the ring elves are clearly based on Icelandic supermodels.

khanscom12 Aug 2018 4:12 p.m. PST

Some AWI, plus WWII and modern naval. Does the TR Foundry Darkest Africa figure count?

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP12 Aug 2018 6:21 p.m. PST

Baron Vietmeyer always kept a few Waldeckers around in honor of his family heritage. Of course, a few is all there were.

Oberlindes Sol LIC Supporting Member of TMP15 Mar 2019 1:37 p.m. PST

I do have US forces, infantry, armor, aviation, maybe a few ships. The biggest part is probably WW2 army in 1/72 and/or 1/76 plastic.

As far as stuff related to my pre-immigration ancestors, I have a few hex-and-counters games set in the Winter War and Continuation War as well as set in Scandinavia during a hypothetical Third World War.

I would note that patriotism has nothing to do with my miniatures purchasing choices -- or probably any other purchasing, with the exception of an American flag patch that I bought and sewed onto a hat.

von Schwartz17 Mar 2019 5:01 p.m. PST

Currently I only have Austrians, Prussians, and a few French, all 15mm SYW. In the past I have had:

Modern USSR and USA micro-armor
WW II German and American micro-armor
Napoleonic French, Italian, Neapolitan, 1807 Prussian, and Austrian 15mm
Polish late 17th, several 100s generic landschneckts and early/mid 16th century 15mm
Palimentarians ECW 15mm
Selucid 15mm
Biblical Libyans my only 25mm
miscellaneous Red Redemptionists and Federal troops.
