I picked up the Naval Thunder, The Atlantic Campaign off Wargames Vault. Seems interesting, and a couple of buddies and I are going to give it a try. However, we play GQ3, not Naval Thunder. Unfortunately The Atlantic Campaign lists ranges in inches (i.e. not yards), speed in some sort of factor (i.e. not knots) and time in turns (without saying how long that is). So, what is the scale of Naval Thunder? With a little searching, I found link which states the ground scale is 1" = 500 yards and each turn represents 4 minutes of time. It doesn't say how fast a Naval Thunder speed factor is. The issue/question I have with that, is one of the engagements in the campaign says the visibility is 75", which at 1" = 500 yards would be 37,500 yards. In GQ, max daytime visibility is 30,000 yards (which would work out nicely if 1" = 400 yards). |

Although it doesn't state it specifically in the rules I believe 1" = 500 yards. In the Steel dreadnought forums there is a post from the designer saying speed is knots/4. |

1" is 500 yards. You ought to try the Naval Thunder rules also. ;) |
