Looks interesting for The Sword in North Africa gaming. These figures from Italeri are usually excellent, with lots of detail. We used them (ACW, FIW) several times in our museum dioramas:

It's Beau Geste, what's not to like……..

This looks like a very nice set. 2 1/2 TSATF foreign Legion units and five Arab ones. The Fort looks like the old airfix one, but it's MDF. The Tuareg Picture looks a lot like a "fuzzy Wuzzy".

The Tuaregs appear to be from the Islamic Warriors set. Quite a mixed bag. link

The new Arab rebel sets from Strelets would go well with this also and even though they are from a bit later period, they would flesh out a more "movie" like appearance.

Yeah, those older Esci Arabs aren't a good match. The FFL are nice.

I like the design of the old Airfix Fort Sahara better, but it's always nice to have fort options.

I'm interested in getting into FFL gaming and TSATF seems like a good rule set, with the Sword in North Africa expansion set.

Being totally unfamiliar with these rules sets, my question is: do you have to have both TSATF rules as well as the Sword in North Africa to play or is the Sword in North Africa a stand-alone set of rules for the French?

I suspect you'd need both, but better to ask first than assume. Thanks in advance for any input.

Blackhorse MP,

You do need both TSATF and The Sword in N. Africa (which is not stand-alone) to game the FFL using TSATF.

Thanks Lili.
