Hi,
my current obsession seems to have evolved into making home brew army lists for Team Yankee – I'm currently working on Spain, Greece, Turkey and possibly Portugal
Anyway I've now decided to look at some other areas of the world and what conflicts may spring up whilst NATO are busy fighting for there lives. The first of these is India and Pakistan
Its easy to imagine these 2 nations having another crack at each other in the 1980s
the only thing I'm struggling with is the organisation of their mechanised infantry companies
the only source I've found so far are a few fan made army lists for a Cold war version of the Battlegroup game, however I read a battle group game a few years ago but that's about it so I cant make much sense of the lists
So does anyone know the organisation of the Indian or Pakistani mechanised infantry companies in the mid 1980s or can anyone translate the below Battlegroup organisation for me?
India
Mech CHQ 1 x BMP-1 Cg.L
2-3 Mech Platoon 1 x BMP-1 + Ig.L
& 3 x BMP-1 + Ig.M
L = Full_SAR + LMG + II
M = Full_SAR + LMG + CG S550 + II
so the CHQ is a BMP-1 chaps armed with SAR LMG and II
The Platoons are a BMP carrying as above and lots of dudes with SAR + LMG + CG S550 + II
LMG is LMG but what s the rest mean
How many people actually in a platoon and what are the other weapons
Pakistan
Mech CHQ 2 x M113A2 + Cg.I
2-3 Mech Platoon1 x M113A2 + Ig.I
& 3 x M113A2 + Ig.O
I = Full_AR + Blindcide + II
O = Full_AR + LMGx2 + Blindcide + II
CHQ is 2x M113 carrying Full_AR + Blindcide + II
Platoons are as above and 3 M113s with Full_AR + LMGx2 + Blindcide + II
at a guess AR is assault rifles, LMG and Blindcide is fine but still don't know what II is
does that mean a Pakistani infantry platoon had 2x LMG and a Blindcide each?
cheers
Andy
