It's a musical comedy. Interestingly, marching French soldiers sing raunchy song about great king Henry the 4th (late 16th and early 17th century) that Napoleonic soldiers loved to sing. In the film song is not very raunchy. This film is available with English subtitles on Youtube, but subtitles are pretty bad because the film is in poetry rime. |

It's like a 1950s tv Western with French cuirassiers as Indians and a Russian hussar as the Pony Express rider, complete with deadly accurate, repeating pistol. Excellent – loved it😀 DBDD |

Entertaining to a point. But you have to admire those Russian artillery crews and guns. One or two men per cannon and guns that don't recoil when fired. LOL |
