An interesting period in British history is covered in Chris Peers new book.

Reading this at the moment. seems really good. Hoping I enjoy as much as his volume on the Saxons.

I bought it as my 'holiday book', but never managed to read it as much as I intended…now I am back at work, I hope I can get back to it….

Interested in this period, but having read the review, I think I might wait until its on the the " remainder" pile or available secondhand. Can't be bothered with padding" in books. The map issue really annoys me in many military history books. Either there is a dearth (as in this case) or the maps are not scaled (as in the case of one I am currently reading).

Can I suggest you listen to the history of England Podcast by David Crowther, I listened to the 3 episodes that cover the Anarchy shortly after writting the book review and the two versions fitted quite well together.
