link A simple new unit post today. The Crusades Project stumbles forward with the speed of a lame tortoise and here we have the latest unit. A 28mm Fireforge Games Mounted Sgt plastic box set. Painted up as Sergeants for the Knights of St Lazarus, a unit I finished last October. Great models they are too. Still undecided on rules for these, still trying Deus Vult watch this space. Very nice! We have been playing Lion Rampant and having a ball, it's a fast, bloody set of rules. The mounted units use 6 models, most foot is 12. I think you used check them out. |

Cheers Irish, are they a Big game set ? That's where most rules fall down for us, needs to handle 30 plus units a side over a weekend. Regards Ken The Yarkshire Gamer |

Tried Lion Rampant recently Ken, enjoyed them but I think small scale for us and also not really multi player. |

You could look at fantasy mini's rules sets -- ignore the magic and fantasy elements. I've been playing 2e BattleySystem mass combat rules since 1995. Bucket-o-dice rules, rolling an Attack Die for each figure able to attack in a unit. It has rules for charging, flanks, rear attacks, siege warfare, chariots, etc. I've played numerous games with 4+ players per side, with 4-6 Units for each player to run, with each unit having 10-50 figures each. No problems with larger games, or a large number of players. It is a "game", though, not a "simulation". There are other fantasy rules sets to consider, as well. Cheers! |
