Nice but not sure on the eyes. I don't think I would go for that look myself

And the fingers could do with closing up around the flag pole

But minor points on a lovely looking unit

Glad you like them (mostly) my friend!. (smile)

They've got Betty Davis eyes… or Marty Feldman! Otherwise a great looking unit.

Not that I an actually do it but the secret is a vertical stripe, not a dot for the iris. We can't actually see the whole iris so it avoids the "possum in the headlights" look.

On a more general note, I wish I could paint that well and people only note one negative. I haven't put up pictures of mine on TMP because they're genuinely horrible by comparison with the masterpieces I see on display here . . .

Cheers,
John

You cannot blame the officer for his expression. That idiot next to him has probably just perforated his eardrum blowing that trumpet!

Yes, I would smile too.

These are some of the best Front Rank 28mm figures and they show what they can do…..( I have huge respect, but hate many of their products)

I have never seen them in a unit this size…(I suspect would not be right for those that throw dice)

I had a few escorting the Tsar's carriage……a handful.

The eyes are…truly…. dodgy. Take the flak. The rest is (you could argue "are" but I insist that a collective…oh forget it) brilliant. You are not the first to screw up on the "Thousand Yard Stare" (Grin)

His Imperial Majesty's etc strictly speaking. He was a Tsar after all.

I keep coming back to these, as they look so good en masse. The trumpeter I did not attempt and he makes a fine sight. Not tempted to put in a standard bearer?

Yes, the vertical stripe is the way to avoid 'fried egg' eyes. The artist of these could experiment with a simple overpainting to see if he likes the look.

I had thought you meant horizontal but now I see the idea….. yes…..the iris/pupil is a circle but the limiting factor (unless absolutely terrified) is the upper and lower eyelids.

I did my Cossacks (front two are Ural) with just a black dot and the result was awful
