The Circle is Complete Teen looking through the Monster Manual: "I like the mimic! You tell the players, 'You see a big chest. It looks like it's full of treasure!' And then they try to open it, and it eats them! That is so AWESOME!" And a DM is born. |

He(she) wouldn't like it so much if it happened to him. Or maybe not. How many times have we suicided a lame character? |

Wait until he starts coming up with his own traps. Our DM didn't like to outright kill off characters, he would pull stunts like: a mud pit that the party must travel through, causes no damage but everyone takes a movement penalty even after exiting; that sack that your loot was in, has a hole that no one noticed…you're broke again. Good times. |

Much more evil is to have the mimic masquerade as boots or, say, pants… |

"Wait until he starts coming up with his own traps." Yep, clue him in to things like a shrunken troll in a church donation box ala Temple Of Elemental Evil and such. Or tell him about Grimtooth's Traps and let him go from there. Rot grubs, slimes and puddings…ah the memories.:) |
