Moral of the video….don't mess with these guys: imgur.com/gallery/6JA6sJJ At the end they sever the femoral artery which is the quickest way to "bleed-out" your opponent. Dave |

It's choreographed. People who actually examine self defense say that such things are done not to train soldiers to defend themselves against knife attacks, but mostly to remove fear of being confronted by an attacker. It's a kill or be killed mentality not super-trained killer trying to murder each other because it would get really messy. I saw a test a few years ago where actual trained fighters engaged so-called elite self-defense experts, the second you put somebody who does understand combat techniques, the other doesn't get out alive. There is a reason why knife techniques are only trained with attackers trying a limited range of attacks (low attacks and with arm raised), because somebody coming at you as a complete psycho or at certain angles is extremely hard if not impossible without major cuts. |

They are actually using the Russian technique, you can tell from the way the knife is held. |

I prefer the US Army version of CQB. It goes something like this:

The knives are probably harmless rubber too. |

Something all people that train to fight with knives know: if I stick my hand out there, it's going to get cut. If you stick your hand out there, I'm going to cut it. In real life, most knife attacks are not super-quick ninja moves like that video, most are strong and hope to incapacitate with a single strike but it almost never works out that way. |
