We visited an amazing centre of experimental archaeology here in the UK at the Butser Ancient Farm where the study into the way ancient peoples lived and constructed their homes helps to inform on the many excavations carried out here and elsewhere.

A super place- haven't been there in a decade or more- should return!

It's a great place to visit.
I also haven't been there in about 15 years…must go again.

I haven't been there for more than 40 years – my one and only visit was before it opened to the public ….

Somewhere near 20 years for me. We visited on May 1 – missed the wicker-man burning the night before.

"We even had local politicians" said one of the docents.

"Inside the wicker-man or outside?" asked I.

I'd never heard of it before. It sounds fantastic, I shall have to visit as soon as I can.

Fortunately very close to me. I go regularly as a visitor but also accompany parties of school children each year. I encourage the kids to feel, smell and listen whilst they're there, not just look. A proper step into the past.

Staff are incredibly knowledgeable and some of the nicest people you'll talk to.

Highly recommended if you've not been there.

I spent a week working there 40 years ago. My pictures look very similar!
Actually, the buildings back in my day were all iron age I think, so lots of development since then.

Thanks for your comments chaps. I note some have you have been there but not for a number of years since. This was my first visit but I intend to go back, firstly to see how the mosaic turns out and in time to see the work on the Bronze Age project.

Cheers
