Russ already posted a nice overview of the 12 table, 17 player event that I ran (with lost of vital help from others, Russ included) on Thursday at Historicon, based upon the situation in Spain shortly after Sir Arthur Wellesley returned to the Peninsula in late April 1809.

This is the first of several very picture heavy entries that will cover the event in stages:

And the dice mystery?

Gonsalvo26 Jul 2018 8:53 p.m. PST

They have not turned up as yet, but I haven't touched the pile of stuff I brought back from the show, and I want to be sure that they aren't hidden under some of the piles of terrain I brought to and from it. Only if they are not there will I conclude that someone may have walked off with them. If so, it is certainly the least of any loss I could have suffered, and the first in 20 years of running games. I'm not going to sweat it either way!

I have been eagerly awaiting this report!

Peter,
Sorry I did not make it this year for this.
Glad of the interest you had-17 players!
I imagine Jesus made for a mighty fine Ney ;-)
Looking forward to the conclusion.

>Dice…

Fortunately, a well-stocked dealer's area was available.

Unfortunately, it was Thursday morning and closed.

Fortunately, I had an exhibitor's badge.

Double fortunately, Harmony House Hobbies was set up sufficiently to sell d10s.

Problem solved.

And now to hop over to Peter's blog… When you have 12 tables, note how Peter split them up on the map. Great scenario design and umpiring.

Amazing shots (with captions) on his blog. And these are only the beginning 1-2 hours' worth of photos. I eagerly look forward to the rest!

I always enjoy reading these. It's what got me to buy the rules and try the game.

Thanks.

Din of Battle (Eric): In many ways, I think this one may have been the best of these events yet. The same scenario with slightly different starting positions and different players could easily be played again. You can use somewhat smaller tables with your 15's, too.

Marshal Greg>: Sorry you couldn't make it. We actually could have profitably used another 3-4 players! I MIGHT be tempted to do another one of these at Historicon again some year, but NOT at a new site!

Russ (and his dealer badge) were a life saver with regard to the absent dice (as well as general assistance with the event – setting up tables, answering rules questions, and more).

John – Thanks! SN works just fine for one off battles, but, IMHO, it is in these big events that it really shines!
