From the look of the trailer, the new ITV version of Vanity Fair (due in September) contains some interesting combat scenes? At the risk of upsetting Brechtel198 and his chums, we can guess who will be the Man Behaving Badly?

Doc Martin?

Wasn't he an old boot?

I like the song, "The Doctor Martin Dental Plan," from the Hard Core band, Bound For Glory.

If anyone likes OI! or Hard Core, you can find it on You Tube.

Looks like fun.

Actually looking at it again, the uniforms do not look too bad and some of the other military details look encouraging. The British guns looked properly spaced out, we might actually have a realistic portrayal of a cannonball strike and the cuirassiers seem to be actually charging knee to knee in line. Mind you, that scene looks a bit 'John Snow at the Battle of the Bastards' and what were those dragoons doing in a wood? Nothing is ever perfect for everybody, but I am encouraged.

Unlike another fictional historical drama Sharpe which is about the soldiers during the Napoleonic wars and was one I really enjoyed (I have the boxset and have read all the novels) this one only has the Napoleonic period as a background to the tales narrative.

But I enjoy and welcome anything that places the Napoleonic period (and other historical periods) into the public eye and will watch it to see how it goes.

Well they have the right suspension on that carriage for 1815…that is unusual and not easily found these days

"Well they have the right suspension on that carriage for 1815…"

High praise, indeed.
