A historical question. Did British generals (their staffs) used flags? Army, corps, divisions? Something like in American Civil War, where Union Army, corps and divisions had their own flags (example – this flag of 2nd Corps).

The Malakand Field Force (NWF 1898-99) had 3 divisions, but they were operating independently of each other… |

Not a British thing I am afraid. Divisional symbols and flags did develop in the early 20th Century but they were for tactical recognition on uniforms and the flag versions were purely for show outside HQ buildings etc.. |
