not sure what you mean by elements. I don't game with food pieces but I have used various spices as part of my flocking bases. When I was creating national armies for the sword in the flame, boxer rebellion, I would put appropriate spaces on the bases. For example, oregano for the Italians, crushed garlic for the French, tea for the British. There food Is not spicy :-). For recent Congo Zanzibares I put some ground clove on the bases. Since that's the major project of the island, I thought the troops might have that aroma about them.

I still use tea for many different bases. I save the families teabags, dried them, cut them open, mixed in with other sorts of green flocking. This is both herbal tea and caffeine tea.

I have slipped a couple of GMs candy for use as spot rewards to gamers--for the Santa vs. the Nazis game, I gave the HAWKs Gm a whole box of mini-candycanes. He loved the idea and used them as bonuses. Several GMs have given out chocolate gold coins, and I remember one Cold Wars sci-fi table layout whose terrain was formed almost completely from glued and painted dry pasta shapes--magnificent and ingenious. I have considered using gingerbread or graham crackers or pretzel sticks as building materiel for a gaiju-based Attack of the Monster game, but then I am a little tetched in the head.

One Fall In at Gettysburg, a GM was running a medieval siege game that had a phase in the Sequence of Play called Insult (the name of the character who owned the castle).

Whenever a player delivered a great insult, the GM handed over a can of beer. Then the GM opened it up to audience members' insults.

Halfway through, some grand poobah put a stop to the beer giveaways for violating some hotel or state rule or another.

Now, that was a great incentive for players and audience members alike!
