Final space is the only cartoon sitcom that actually is at least as much drama as a comedy.
And it's also a real sci fi show. Not just a cartoon sitcom set in the future (like Futurama).
But that's part of the problem, they have forced an epic sci fi story, that also has humour and action and genuine character development into 10 20 minute episodes.
This means the show is to hectic. There is no time to take a breath.
This show would have been better either with a standard 20+ episode season (the story would be the same just more of it, more time to enjoy it,) or 10 episodes but with 35-40 minute runtime.
Another problem is the drama is better than the humour, the main character is the standard "loveable ooph" usually not stupid as Homer or Philip Fry, though his IQ does drop at times
It's a trope they could have done with out.
Sometimes the honour hits the right funny bone. But other times it's just annoying and ruins what is a genuinely good sci fi drama.
They could have toned down the Simpsons style humour and gone more for more live action dramady style humour.
But even with the annoying bits it's a fantastic series I watched all 10 episodes in a single sitting.
