What colour was the Danish officer sashes?

John Armatys23 Jul 2018 6:52 a.m. PST

Yellow with red stripes according to WIAM2, Danes, Bavarians and Prussians, compiled by P Condray for Editions Brokaw, 1986.

The Foot Guards and Queens's regiments had white sashes according to Snorrason's work on the army from 1699-1712. Also, his booklet on the Scanian War shows an officer of the Feltherrens Regiment, later Prins Georg's, with a white sash with gold fringe. However, in the text, he says that the sashes were blue! The footguards had white sashes in 1668. In the 1699-1712 work, he specifically states that the sashes could be in different colors for various regiments, but never red and yellow, which was first introduced after 1730. A plate that shows, among other uniforms, an officer of Schack's regiment, shows a yellow sash. He also states that the Kronprinsen Regiment in 1702 had red sashes. He states that in the cavalry apparently only those in foreign service wore sashes. Without any further information on a specific regiment I would go with white or red sashes.

The Kronprinsen Regiment would be Prins Christians and Schacks would be Prinsen af Hessen at the Battle of Helsingborg.

Thanks, do you have specific info on grenader korpset officers?

I don't have anything on the Grenadierkorps. If I do them, I will give them white sashes with gold fringe.
