I want to do some conversion work and need bodies in long chainmail, preferrably knee lenght. Grateful for any suggestions?

Looking at Gripping Beast and Warlord Games figures all I can see is mid thigh length at best.

Yes, that seems unfortunately to be the case. I was hoping I have missed some product line with longer chainmail shirts…

Check out FireForge, either Rus infantry or Scandinavian infantry sets (the bodies are the same in both sets).

Conquest games Norman infantry set have some but the ratio in the box is like one in five so in a box set you only get about four armoured guys in a box. Which, I guess, doesn't really make it very cost effective unless you have a use for the unarmoured guys.

Thanks for your comment! I am afraid that the Fireforge have too short chainmail shirts for what I had in mind. The Conquest one looks really good but one in five is as you say not cost effective. Maybe I have to turn to metal miniatures but then the headswap becomes an issue.
I want to convert them into Ottoman armoured infantry ( similar to the Old Glory pack OXT 06)

I am going to suggest just buying the Old Glory sets.

They are really good and the price for them, with the membership (40% off!), is actually a LOT cheaper than what plastics companies are charging today!

Look at the outrageous prices that Warlord is charging for plastic figures!

Victrix figures (ie Greeks) were a really good value but now their cost, for their newest sets, is on par with metals! (just like Warlord)

Thanks wmyers,
I am not a member so the cost is £30.00 GBP for 30 minis in three poses…my biggest concern is though that I have some bad experiences with Old Glory. Their molds seems a bit dated which affect the detail on the miniatures. However as a last resort I might have to go that route…

Maybe you could find a friend (or two!) to go into the membership with you!

40% off is a good deal. If it is for one set of figures, it's not really worth it, is it.

They do have a large range for that era, though. The sculpts look pretty good, too.

This link gives some fairly good pictures of the Ottoman figures:
