Any suggestions? Do people use actual 6mm scenery, or does a smaller scenery work well?

Anyone have any examples, experience, or suggestions?

Definitely 6mm scenery for me. There is a lot of stuff available from suppliers like Timecast, Leven and Total Battle Miniatures. The "footprint" of buildings seems to work ok. Generally, you have individual buildings on battlefields, rather than towns or villages, so the buildings tend to be decorative and not impact on the fighting. You will need lots of trees, fences and walls.

Depends on the scale engagements you want to do. If a "base" of your 6mm figures is more 1:1 scale for regimental level actions, true 6mm scenery looks great. But in our club we are typically using a base of figures to represent at least a brigade, so our terrain is scaled down closer to 3mm. The free paper terrain and buildings at my site, 6mmACW.com, are all scaled somewhere closer to 3mm for that very reason. It's so easy to scratch build things in this scale that I've never seen a reason to buy anything pre-made.

Lord A, we carry plenty of buildings and scenic for that scale as well as other usable terrain items/features that will work. Give me a shout.

PaperTerrain has buildings, fences, cornfields, roads, and bridges in 6mm.
