I totally agree with the French, but my own interests span 1740 through 1815. The high status of the French Army in 1740 (War of the Austrian Succession, and under DeSaxe), the slump in the 7YW; the rebirth during the AWI period; the Revolution wrecking the officer corps; and then the rise of Napoleon and the marvelous array of incredible officers, units, uniforms, legendary battles, and the ultimate effect on the ACW put the Napoleonic French right on top. I painted some British Napoleonics this week for the first time and as many times as i paused to reference books or digital media for uniforms and flags i cannot count. It takes alot of research! |

Your Most Studied Army? Napoleonic French!" It is my largest, least understood. Most studied is the Imperial German. Most knowledgeable-ACW. Current focus is France enemies and allies of Louis XV. |
