An FYI: ' On Wings ' WW II Aviation Combat miniatures rules is on sale at WGV. I've played this a bit, and it is a very tight quick-play system that actually rewards 'real world' knowledge. This is rapidly becoming my Fav WWII Aviation game (Although I admit: this isn't me Era, so factor that into the weight of my opinion) From BGG: "The game design features an uncluttered tabletop, squadron building, and aerial terrain and built in altitude rules. Basic and advanced rules allow you to choose what level of detail you prefer. Scenarios including ground attack, bomber interception, meeting engagements and more. Each with their own criteria for victory: every thing from hit the target hard and get away, to total control of the skies, to protect your valuable bombers or airbase." link link

So I bought this for the $4 USD deal. Based on what I received it was well worth it. It is a print and play type thing or you can use any minis you have, but I am just going with vanilla print and play for now. I printed out enough for up to 8 on 8 battle with the 2 planes the rules comes with. Seems like good quick fun. Can't wait to try. Anyone else play these rules? I have played other plane/spaceship games and this one seems like it would be great. I am wondering why they are not more popular. The altitude component is the one thing I am not sure of. Never used altitude before but seems cool to have to think in 3d. I am interested in other people's experiences with these rules so if you played before let me know your thoughts. |
