Me and my good friend Rich Greenaway ran my game The Seige of Fort St. Elmo 3 times at Historicon. First let me say we had the absolute best groups of people for all three games you would want to game with. Everyone played with enthusiasm and IMO all had a great time. Thank you to everyone who played. Also thank you to the entire Historicon Staff for doing a terrific job. Zero problems encountered this year. All 3 games were very close with different tactics employed in each one. The knights sallied forth for the first time in one game and added a new dimension we had not seen before. Coordination between two ladder commands assaults was responsible for a knights loss in one game. Knights standing in the breach and holding off assault after assault was a common factor in each game. Overall the Turks were able to overwhelm the Knights of St. John in two of the games with the Knights holding strong in one. We were honored to be awarded a PELA award. Link to pictures below link Thank you Col. Gray and Flashman for the great pictures I borrowed …plus anyone else I find in advance. |

I walked by several times and had a few minutes of discussion with the gentleman running the game. If that was you, then I commend you sir on your pleasant attitude and willingness to discuss your scenario! |

Thank you all and yes Lascaris that was me, Doug Fisher. It was an absolute pleasure to talk to the many who stopped to comment on the game. It was also amazing to me how many people had been to Malta and St. Elmo itself. |

By shear coincidence my brothers and I were listening to Empires of the Sea during our 19 hour drive to Historicon. It was amazingly cool to walk in and see the magnificent siege of St Elmo game after just listening to the dramatic story of one of history's greatest last stands. I agree that it was the best looking game at the con this year. |
