No not the insects and geological formations.
But the British musical groups.

Winston Smith16 Jul 2018 7:44 a.m. PST

The Band.
Oh. You want British? The Who.

Can't stand John Lennon. McCartney is overrated.
Mick Jagger and Keif are jerks.

Garand16 Jul 2018 7:49 a.m. PST

Yes, much rather listen to The Who than either the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. My oldest daughter likes the Beatles however, so sometimes I'm forced to listen to them.

Damon.

Sundance16 Jul 2018 8:00 a.m. PST

I agree. I prefer the Beatles over the Stones, but The Who over both.

genew4916 Jul 2018 8:02 a.m. PST

Beatles for me.

The Yardbirds!

Got their big start with a regular gig at the Crawdaddy Club when the Stones left there. For musical development they were several years ahead of the Beatles.

Now if only their lead guitarists didn't keep leaving for their own careers — Clapton, Beck, Page!

Vigilant16 Jul 2018 8:13 a.m. PST

Growing up at the time I preferred the Beatles. Now I would go for the Who 1st, then the Beatles and then the Stones. Have paid to see what's left of the Who, can't see the Beatles and wouldn't pay the amounts demanded by the Stones.

Is Elvis comparable? I don't have any sense that the kids know what an Elvis is.

mad monkey 116 Jul 2018 9:10 a.m. PST

Stones, then Who.

Patrick R16 Jul 2018 9:16 a.m. PST

I tend to like both.

I preferred the Beatles when I was growing up…and occasional Stones songs. Then I moved on to David Bowie!

Beatles, Kinks, Stones.
I would rather eat chocolate covered liver than listen to the Who.

Wherethestreetshavnoname16 Jul 2018 12:02 p.m. PST

The Stones.

It was a binary choice, how did the other 60s beat combos get in there?

Chuckaroobob16 Jul 2018 12:26 p.m. PST

The Beatles. I even like their movies.

Johnny Cash, oh in answer to the question, early Beatles.

Patrick Sexton Supporting Member of TMP16 Jul 2018 2:44 p.m. PST

To answer the original question, The Beatles.

Cerdic16 Jul 2018 3:15 p.m. PST

When I was growing up it was Punk and the Sex Pistols. They thought 60s and early 70s bands were a "bunch of boring old farts"…

Beatles but the Stones have done some good songs too …

Limeliters followed by the Kingston Trio. There's a reason they call what followed an invasion.

Daithi the Black16 Jul 2018 8:18 p.m. PST

Beatlrs over Stones, Black Sabbath over Beatles, Led Zeppelin over all.

Beatles – mostly from Rubber Soul Onwards. Stones were a great single band – albums very patchy, and nothing really good in the last 45 years or so.

Like early Who (up to ~'69), but the later stuff I can mostly leave alone.

Corporal Fagen11 Aug 2018 6:14 p.m. PST

The Beatles

Oberlindes Sol LIC Supporting Member of TMP09 Mar 2019 4:26 p.m. PST

I need both. Not at the same time, of course. Not even on the same day. But some days are Beatles days and some are Stones days.

Most days are Ramones days, though.
