Just returned from another great Historicon! First of all, Thank you to all the staff, volunteers, and Gamemasters who make this one of the highlights of my summer! While I was stuck in the dealer barn for most of the weekend, I did get a chance to walk around and see some amazing games. And although the Host is still SNAFU and FUBAR, I appreciate that they are trying to make it a better place. I thought that human volume was slightly better than F'Burg, and my sales were up slightly… (Even sold stuff on a Sunday… That NEVER happens!) Again, thanks to all for their hard work! +1 Daribuck, Had a great time running four historical games and 2 sci-fi. Although the gaming areas were chilly!! |

Agreed, the staff of HMGS were very helpful. I especially want to thank the young man who took my friend's box down the stairs from Wally's basement so my friend could help me with some heavy boxes. Sorry I didn't get his name. |

Yes, a thank you to the staff! The continuing construction problems are a shame, but they don't seriously interfere with operations. I thought attendance was pretty good and my sales were the highest they've been since that first convention in Fredericksburg and MUCH higher than the last con in Fredericksburg :) Looking forward to Fall In! |

Hear, hear! Convention staff, GM's, and--lest we forget--Host staff. I could say a few words about whoever is ramrodding the remodel, but all the Host people I dealt with were invariably courteous, polite and as helpful as the situation permitted anyone to be. |

The staff was always as helpful and accommodating as could be, no matter how much us folks tried to exhaust them! Thanks so much! |

I liked the Host people directing parking. Good job handling that. |

Well done for saying 'Thank you' and 'Well done' to the Historicon staff! – we all too often forget to thank people and acknowledge their efforts! Appropriate thanks encourages workers. We should never take good service for granted! |

I'm going add a big thumbs up to the HMGS and and hotel staff, too. The security guard running the freight elevator Saturday morning for Wally's Basement—who was coming off a 12 hour shift no less—was very cheerful, funny, and extremely helpful. I hadn't been to Hcon in 12 years, but had a great time! And frankly, I hate to see it moved to downtown. I have always liked the Host, probably just as much a nostalgia thing as anything else, but still… |

Agreed – HMGS and the staff at the Host did their very best to make this show one of the best I've been to in a long while. Kudos to the team! |

Thanks to the convention staff and volunteers! The one person not deserving of any kudos, thanks or praise of any kind is the food service manager! Wait maybe they have no one running the food service which is believable given how terrible it was and the surliness of the employees/contractors! The staff did a great job given the continuing issues with the Host. |

I didn't stay at the Host so I can't comment on the rooms, but the new tables were good, the chairs were padded, and the A/C was excellent (except for a few rooms…). Kudos to the HMGS staff. The pre-reg QR code was simple and fast. Everyone was nice ad helpful. They did a marvelous job handling all the monkey wrenches the Host threw at the convention. Re: pre-reg event sign-up -- yep, figure 50% no-shows. But it's a heck of a lot better than having to queue up everyday to hopefully grab a ticket. If that happens, I won't game at all. Knowing this though (and we all should), if there's a game you're interested in that's all full, be there at the table at starting time to see if there are openings. I got into two games that way. Re: the area next to the Dealer Hall that we think will eventually be for parking -- we were told at the member meeting that the Host plans to turn that area into a patio with porticoes, picnic tables and fire pits. The new Host wants to attract weddings, reunions and such and not necessarily conventions like us. As my friend says, "We like the Host but the Host doesn't like us." |

Thanks to the hmgs staff and the scanner and QR code worked well. The fastest of all shows I have attended for getting my tickets and badge. Loved the new tickets and only had two no shows on the game I ran. As it happened I had a walk up take one spot and the game worked better with less players. The Host comments will be posted else where as it is a wreck of a hotel…. |

Re: pre-reg event sign-up -- yep, figure 50% no-shows. So then no one should have a problem if I say my game is for 8 players but designed it for 6 right? |
