Hello everyone! The 28mm itch has bitten me. I have lots of small bits and pieces of miniatures an the like but for some reason I really want to do a cavalry regiment ~20-40 riders. Mainly it would be geared towards 40k ( I am thinking of making a rough riders team..because I think it would be super fun and hilarious ) . That being said, I have access to a bunch of little bits and pieces but I am missing a key element ( besides the horses, but that is for another day ) I am looking for rider legs, just the legs. Now I know there are places like Victoria Miniatures ( link ) or Mad Robot ( link ) . That being said, I am looking for a bunch of them, ( rider legs ) . I would prefer not to spend more on the legs of the model than the rest of the model. If anyone knows of a good place to get a punch of them ( 20-40, it can be almost any era, but really hoping to find boots and trousers ) for relatively in expensive, it would be most appreciated. |

My first thought is to look into plastic cavalry figures. Go to Warlord Games, narrow a search through products with "plastic" and "cavalry", and see. They offer 12 mounted guys for $32 USD retail, clever shopping might save you a lot there. But there are other companies out there, with other options, and maybe one will fit your needs better? |

I have no idea about 40k (seems I have read that term on this site once before) but you can do far better than Warlord for value for horses and riders! Depending upon your painting skills, Conquest Games makes cavalry figures with 16 in a box (if you are cutting the torso's off and just using the legs, they may or may not work). Same goes for Perry Miniatures. Also, HAT makes some 28mm cavalry sets (just be warned the heads are far undersized for the ridiculous proportions 28mm uses but the horses are the same size and the legs can be used no problem)! |

I think you may be able to pick up some of the old Wargames Factory Spanish Cavalry, if you search. |

Thanks for the help. I think I may have to look for full cav, vice just the legs. Thanks again for the assistance! |

I think an important aspect is what bits and pieces you are going to glue to those legs. There are a lot of historical cavalry sets that might provide a good starting point (for boots and trousers, I would look for the Perry Napoleonic ones). However, if you are going to stick a rather "heroically proportioned" WH40K Cadian upper body on such legs the end result might look a bit unbalanced. |
