One of my projects is to play the 'Operation Nostalgia' campaign which appeared in a couple of Wargames Illustrated magazines in 1994. Originally written of 'Rapid Fire' rules I have expanded the entire campaign. Most land battles will be in 6mm using Blitzkrieg Commander II rules with Chain of Command rules for skirmishes. There will also be naval and air actions. It involves a series of island hopping landings. More details on my blog. grymauch.blogspot.com

Was Eisenhower assassinated before this campaign started, So You can have US troops get involved. He left the British out to dry on this campaign. |

If you take a look at my blog it gives some of the background to this campaign. You will see that it is fictional and not meant as a serious recreation of a historical event. |

Churchill knew full well that the United States was completely opposed to this operation. he knew that the United States would provide no support whatsoever for the operation. Eisenhower had no intention of rewarding blackmail by incompetence. I admired Churchill for many, many things, but this was a poorly thought-out idea, and he was solely to blame. (I even think that the original naval Gallipoli operation was brilliant. Churchill's error, as in Norway and the Aegean, was doggedly pursuing the operation after its opportunity for success had passed.) |
