Games Workshop officially announced Kill Team, a skirmish game similar to the recent Shadow War: Armageddon and past iterations of Kill Team. This new Kill Team game is for two to four players and plays on a tight 22" by 30" board.

Each player leads a squad of warriors, consisting of about five to ten individuals. The Kill Team box set will contain two factions – a Genestealer Cult and Skitarii (the military forces of the Adeptus Mechanicus). Games Workshop also announced that additional, smaller Starter Sets for specific factions will be released, as well as new "Killzones" terrain set expansions. It appears that Games Workshop is taking the Shadespire expansion approach to Kill Team and it will have a number of future releases and support.

This should be fully compatible with Necromunda? Replace the GS Cult with the underhive gang of your choice.

Centurio Prime05 Jul 2018 11:21 a.m. PST

doesn't look to be the necromunda rules.

LOL. Same Gothic architecture, where every game looks like revolves around the storming of an endless sequence of ugly churches?

Is that a D10 just below the number ten?

You could, I don't know, just not use the gothic ruins, or build your own terrain? The rules are available separately.

Hrmmm… OK, but I'm genuinely interested in that Rogue Trader game.

Anyone remember the original Kill Team rules form 15 or so years ago? I may still have them

From the FAQ:

Not the same system as Necromunda.

Yes, there are d10s involved.

Rogue Trader is an upcoming expansion for Kill Team.

Looking forward to this. And I'm happy to see the Gothic architecture. It will match up nicely with all my Cities of Death terrain.

Pictors Studio05 Jul 2018 3:41 p.m. PST

Depending on cost, I might be buying this for the terrain alone.

Pontifex05 Jul 2018 4:05 p.m. PST

The locals here are mostly gushing over the terrain. Though the spine hardly got worn on Shadow War Armageddon for me, I think I might look into this, anyway. They won't have the armies I want (Inquisition, Adepta Sororitas) at launch, but they explained that they're focusing first on armies with existing plastic ranges, so that made sense, at least. This time, though, I think I'm going to paint up the orks I've been doing nothing with, just for some variety, while waiting for the actual Rogue Trader figures with which they teased us.

Waiting for Rogue Trader.

I'm wondering how they'll be able to show much differentiation in weapon ranges on such a compressed tabletop. Even in the sci-fantasy world of 40k, just about every weapon should be "in range" in this game.

Centurio Prime06 Jul 2018 4:00 a.m. PST

Pistols 12", Rifles mostly 24", Heavy weapons 36"-48" typically. Flamers 8", grenades variable depending on Strength but 6" generally.

Alternating activation too, a move away from Igo-Ugo! I definitely want to check it out. Launch day will also apparently see two warband boxes for Marines and Orks as well as another battlefield set with terrain. I have to say that GW introducing alternating activation rules into one of their games is very interesting…we'll have to see where this goes.

Okay I'm in, at least the rulebook if not the starter set. I sold my 'Shadow War: Armageddon' so could use something for my small scale skirmish fix.

kallman11 Jul 2018 7:32 a.m. PST

Like Pictor, I might buy this just for the terrain. I like storming Gothic churches.
