Or any other similar epoxy sculpting putty?

This is what I use. Cheap is subjective but for the money spent this product imo gives the best results. It never dries out (if stored in the fridge) and is extremely easy to work with. I tried several different brands years ago and this is the only product I use now:

I use it for everything: conversions, sculpting, scale modeling, etc.

I second the recommendation. A great product. Wish I had thought of storing mine in the fridge. After 3 years my last batch had dried out.

Have a new project going and will be ordering more.

HobbyTown Fresno. I don't remember the price, but when I saw it I grabbed it because it was a helluva deal.

Is kneadatite water soluble before it cures? That is one of the things I like about Apoxie. Using Apoxie I can form an object and then smooth or alter a surface wit a wet finger or brush.

Also look for Magic Sculpt. Amazon sells it. Easier to work with than other epoxy clays. Smooths with water and dries hard a concrete. Once mixed it is like working with pottery clay. Easy to make folds for cloaks and stuff. You can also smothe with a file when cured to make weapons.

The Kneadatite band is NOT water soluble. However one can use water (or spit) as a lubricant on it to prevent tools or fingers from sticking. Kneadatite was originally formulated as a quick repair putty for plumbing. There are many off-brand versions in hardware stores which are very low cost. Their set times and the gain (ability to show detail) vary widely.
