Standard disclaimer: This question is about Easy Eight's skirmish rules "Battleground WWII", not Battlefront WW2 or Battlefront Miniature's game Flames of War.

1) How often do you have to take a sighting test? Do you take it each round, even if you've sighted the target previously? Do you have to take a new sighting test if you or the target change positions? If they leave line of sight? What about if they go prone?

2) If you only have to sight a target once, how to you keep track of who has sighted whom? Is there a marker for that? How do you track it if some of your units have spotted the enemy and some have not?

You don't have to sight the enemy each round as long as they do not move out of your LOS. If, for example, an enemy squad is dug into a hedgerow and you spot them, they will remain spotted as long as they stay put. If the enemy squad withdraws behind the hedgerow (out of LOS) and then attempts to cross a road between fields, you would take another sighting test, though it might be automatic depending on distance.

I forgot to answer # 2. I used to use washers spray painted khaki and grey to mark troops that had not yet been spotted. When spotted the marker would be removed and the troops placed on the table. I painted numbers on the washers and 'king', 'queen', etc so that the marker would match the activation playing cards.

We often play with one side off board until spotted. When we can we almost always play with a GM.

Also this is a skirmish game with limited number of figures, we never marked spot figures that I can remember.

1) you take a sighting check at beginning of each Action (an activated unit usually has 2 Actions)

2) I usually either try to remember who has seen whom or make a note of it.

Once a unit is spotted they stay spotted unless they move out of sight.

As far as who sees who, I follow 7dot62mm. I just keep in mind who has seen who. If you don't play with too many units it is fairly easy.

Thanks, good to know there is some consensus on how to handle it! Going to try this one out at the local club when I have a few more models painted up and see how it goes.
