Recently a friend of mine finished a full Platoon of US Marines 1942,he did 4-9 man squads plus the HG.

In these squads some of the Marines have Rifle Grenades now these aren't covered in Bolt Action so how would they be covered in BA?

Thanks
Michael

It seems that I was a little hasty.

Eventhough the Rifle Grenade isn't listed in the main rulebook but it's listed in the Konflikt 47 playsheet.

As far as I know most countries used the Rifle Grenade in one form or the other, but I find it funny that it's not covered in Bolt Action proper.

Are even regular hand grenades in Bolt Action? My first exposure to the game at a con ignored them.

I believe that grenades aren't listed as a separate weapon. They are lumped in as part of the close assault attack. Rifle grenades are a different matter, since they can be lobbed a longer distance than a person can throw. Maybe an oversight? or just didn't want to overcomplicate the firing phase? That's a question for the designers.

I think they are just abstracted into the melee phase.

I think rifle grenades are covered in a supplement army book.

Rifle Grenades are cover in the Battle of the Bulge Campaign book.

The assistant squad leader in the US Army was designated as the rifle grenadier. Rifle grenades were in almost every army and used widely but: 1) they were not as effective as a lobbed hand grenade, and 2) it took time to prepare, aim and fire and took away from the firepower of the squad.

They are included in the french army in BA though, but I think this is a balancing item more than a historical item.

Rifle grenades are covered in Armies of France and the Allies page11.

Wargamer Blue this information is in the Konflikt 47 rulebook on page 58.

We've always just treated them as light mortars which has worked well enough.

Campaign Battle of the Bulge has rules for them, basically a light mortar
