The majority of you say that Orcs are tougher than humans. TMP link

Revisionist history… Old school orcs are slightly smaller and close in strength to men. Go back to AD&D and Tolkien to see them.

Warhammer started to change that, and newer editions of D&D changed their look also.

Scale creep across the years.

Orcs "should" be weedy things an easy match for a human warrior.

Sense my first encounter with fantasy fiction was through the cartoon movies of the late seventies this will always be in my mind's eye an orc.

I always thought that orcs were only really dangerous in large numbers and certainly not as skilled or tough as human/elf or dwarven warriors

I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about Orks, my mistake.

In Tolkien they seem to have come in several sizes with only the Urk Hai and half orcs having the size and strength of men.
Though with some hint that they could withstand more abuse than Elves/Men.

GW created the green "tough" version.

On that note Tolkien's Elves also seem to have lacked the strength though not the skill of men.

Time to grab some Oathmark figures and have some none GW games.

I see them as like for like with humans. Difference is that they seem to raid more so the Orc warriors come up against local militias etc.

My take is that they are tough, can be large, but by no means very skilled fighters, numbers being important. Mine come in all shapes and sizes, my latest have been a unit of the old Red Orcs ans a few units of Nick Lund's chaps. Skin colour also varies from grey to tan,

It is fantasy so unless representing a specific book etc, fill yer boots!

If Orcs are so tough, why is it I only see humans wherever I go?

There should be a distinction between Warhammer Orcs and real ones.
