Anyone know more? The Wings of Glory folks are coming out with fighter and capital ship games. link |

Sounds like BSG's answer to SW Armada. |

Not my game, either one. But I'll be very curious to hear whether they actually use different mechanisms. Just once, I'd like to open up someone's Big Book of Wargaming, and find completely different mechanisms for different levels and periods. OK, it's not that it's NEVER happened, but it's rare enough to stand out. |

"It would be very uninteresting both for us designers and the players to have the same game but with different vehicles and different settings. As we already did with Sails of Glory, in which we tried to inject as many original mechanics as possible with respects to Wings of Glory (their only common ground, to an extreme, was the use of manoeuvre cards and damage counters), we tried to catch the peculiarities and specificities that the TV series offered and turn them into mechanics for BSG-SB to have a game that is both innovative and different from the "of Glory" series: what the starships can do is… well, cool!" |

I'll buy the classic version. As long as the stupid robot dog isn't in it. |

No Muffy?!?! Doug Edit: Oooo, bases I can adapt easily to FT! |

Yeah, I read that, emckinney. And I believe it just as much as I believe the bit on the box that tells me "these rules are both fast play and incredibly historically accurate, require no book-keeping and work with any basing. Oh: and you can fight any size battle with them!" It's sad. I used to work for the government, and I actually got lied to more when I took a weekend off and went to Lancaster for a convention. |

Gaming design seems to be trending towards adaptability and a "one size fits all" approach. Why reinvent the wheel? Here's another example of a proven rules system (Commands & Colours) crossing multiple periods, settings and genres with a few tweaks. TMP link Now if only someone other than Palladium will do a UEDF vs. Zetraedi fleet battle game for Macross. |

Now if only someone other than Palladium will do a UEDF vs. Zetraedi fleet battle game for Macross. Going to have to wait until Harmony Gold loses the license for Robotech, in 2021. But honestly, the Robotech RPG Tactics rules are pretty good. Fast, cinematic, deadly. Problem was the lack of all the models, it's a bit unbalanced with only the Glaugs and Regults. But you can get all the models you want on Shapeways. |

Hmmm. The reboot did do some vector type maneuvering (though not fully). Might be interesting. |

Going to have to wait until Harmony Gold loses the license for Robotech, in 2021. Why wait? There's a slew of board and card games for Macross slated to be released this year alone. Look up "Robotech: Force of Arms," "Robotech: Ace Pilot" and "Robotech: Attack on the SDF-1." Looks like Harmony Gold has been giving free rein on their license. |

I, for one, am looking forward to the BSG game, especially if it's fighter vs fighter. Other options work for fleet games though |

Crossed fingers here. Now if I can only find time to build my Robotech models… |

Well.. its 'kind of interesting', but from what Im seeing, while technically they are miniatures. Personally, I don't consider 2D paper models to be really 'Miniatures'. It will be interesting to see if they decide to also do Capital ships or if it turns out to be simply a BSG variation of X-wing. On the subject of BSG, I know it would not Battlestar "Galacitca" per say, but I like the BSG games that take place before the 'Final Assault' and the fleet is destroyed. In short various Colonial ships and not just a single Battlestar. |
Daricles | 06 Jul 2018 11:12 p.m. PST |
Those paper ships were playtest only. According to the article there will prepainted plastic minis. |
