Is it necessary to coat 54mm figs with PVA after washing them or can you just add the desired primer color and proceed from there

I just use Krylon spray for plastics, matte white

Might be a good idea with soft Conte figures ?

After washing the figures (try cheap blue windshield washer fluid!), I prime them with Model Master Grey Primer. After letting it dry overnight, I give them a very thin wash of Tamiya Flat Black. This accentuates the different paint areas. Then I just paint, usually with a combination of Foundry and Vallejo. After they're done, I give them a coat, sometimes two, of Liquitex High Gloss Acylic Varnish. You can see the result on my blog. (So far, the results have been very good.) Acough2001, I just read your blog (good job by the way, I look forward to more!) and clearly you are influenced by traditional toy soldiers (gloss finish).

They look good.
