I don't believe "Rio Grande" was a ACW movie.

Maureen O'Hara's character left her husband ( John Wayne) over the burning of the family farm during the civil war.

Maybe it should be "What Southern belle would you NOT want to march off to war from?" Because any man in is right mind should choose to march away from that selfish brat Scarlett O'Hara, as Rhett finally realized.

Hannah Hunter (NOT "Harper" as per original post).

She was the whole Rebel package--smart, loyal to her state's cause, resourceful, brave, capable of tenderness.\

A whole Reb Army of her type, and Washington would fall in a week!

Don't agree? Fair enough, but go re-watch "The Horse Soldiers" before posting your own nominee!

TVAG, thanks for correcting me, just a cut & paste typo on my part.

That role as played by Constance Towers is my personal favorite too!
Couple years ago we took the "Horse Soldiers" driving tour through Mississippi, following the actual route of Grierson's Raid. The movie followed historical accuracy more than most people realize.

Every character in "Rio Grande" had some connection to the Civil War which doesn't matter. "Rio Grande" is not a Civil War movie. Anymore than "The Bridges at Toko-Ri" was a WWII movie because some of the characters were in WWII.

Carol Burnett did a great take-off on Gone with the Wind.
I nominate her, even if the show is not really ACW.
