This is the appalling way in which the East German Communist propaganda machine apparently publicized the Hollywood film Beverly Hills Cop (1984) during the final years of their regime.

Done by East German illustrator Thomas Schallnau in 1987.

QUESTION
Know of any other Cold War examples of gross misrepresentation of Western culture vía movie posters, for psychological, political and/or military propaganda purposes?

not sure about direct misinterpretation – it seems that the reviwers never actually seen Star wars, but here's a couple of cold war pics..

Wow, that's incredible! They clearly did not know what it was about. Wow.
