Looks like you got this wrong, the winner was "I don't attend Historicon", he got 12% of the vote/42 total votes, by far the biggest vote getter. I'll have to check this fella out and see what he peddles.

Zone, you forgot the hang tag which lets them park in one of the three "Top Five Vendor" parking spaces. |

It shouldn't have been included. Here's a new poll: Who is your favourite Beatle? A) John B) Paul C) George D) Ringo E) I like strawberry ice cream Picking your top vendor assumes you are present to patronize the vendors, doesn't it? |

"Dumpster," Rotundo? Oh. You mean the bin of terrain scratch-building material, free to all attendees. Bowman, I'm going to shock everyone and say the poll design was right and the right winners were proclaimed. Given you can't see the voting results without voting yourself, there always needs to be an option open for non-participants. A poll on "best 10mm manufacturer" for instance, always needs some variant on "I don't paint 10mm armies" so that anyone considering such can see who is held in high regard without casting a vote for one in ignorance. But it should be an actual opt out, as this one was, and not sideways to the poll. So "Favorite Beatle" should include "I'm not an etymologist." |

Agreed, I don't get the point of adding that selection as an option; guaranteed those who voted for that option did so with the attitude of "I'll show THEM, I'll never go to Valley Forge/Fredericksburg/Lancaster EVER again!!" Yeah, you'll be missed…………..none of the above makes zero sense as well, then why bother voting? |

Bowman, I'm going to shock everyone and say the poll design was right and the right winners were proclaimed. I'll disagree and no one said anything about the "winners" Given you can't see the voting results without voting yourself…… I can see the results and didn't vote. A poll on "best 10mm manufacturer" for instance, always needs some variant on "I don't paint 10mm armies" so that anyone considering such can see who is held in high regard without casting a vote for one in ignorance Wrong. A better poll would be one phrased "For those who play in 10 mm, what is your favourite manufacturer. Then have one choice as, "I don't have one". Why? Let's assume 80% of wargamers play in a different scale or size and we get 100% involvement in the poll. You will get 80% garbage results pertaining to the most popular 10mm manufacturer. That's bad polling. I'm not arguing against an "opt out" choice in a poll, I'm arguing for framing the question and the "opt out" choice to provide meaningful data. George is correct in thinking it is odd that the largest single category was a meaningless choice, that has nothing to do with the favourite vendors at Historicon. |
