I'm thinking of doing a small 1939 project in either 15mm or 20mm. I'd be looking to put together a force of an infantry platoon with a few support weapons and vehicles. Which manufacturers do ranges, and which are the nicest (in your opinions)?

In 20mm SHQ has the best cavalry, Warmodelling the best infantry, and FAA the best Black Brigade (though do have a look at Shell Hole Scenics for motorcycles).

Other figure manufacturers that are not quite to my taste but which you may want to consider are Early War Miniatures, Wargames Foundry, and Under Fire Miniatures.

For vehicles First to Fight has a pretty extensive range in plastic which you can supplement with Frontline Wargaming's cheap resin offerings.

You can find some good deals here on vehicles and guns
