I predicted this. It's probably the only thing I got right! I used to work for a company called VisionGain (a defence industry market research firm) and I wrote a report on Future Soldier Systems 2010-2020 in which I said that the US Army would be fielding Special Forces units equipped with exoskeletons by the mid-late 2020s, followed by a general rollout to the Army in the 2040s or 2050s.

Powered armour is coming, and it's coming by the end of this century.

I'll not hold my breath when the news outlet is Fox. Shall we just say that hyperbole is not unknown to that network, and many others for that matter.

I remember rocket jet packs from newsreels in the 60s or thereabouts. They were supposed to revolutionize warfare as we know it.
