link Airfix have put a PR spin on re-releasing a bunch of very old kits and figures. TV repeats are now "classics", 2nd hand clothes are "previously enjoyed" etc etc. Still old stuff. Nice PR, but I cannot help but wish they actually made something new and accurate of these old "classics" |

I love some of those old kits. Welcome news! |

I think a lot of us had some of those old kits. |

Might be old, but some of that stuff is still very good. And in fairness to Airfix they have been bringing out some excellent new stuff in recent years, just not many 1:72 scale vehicles. Their 1:48 scale vehicles are awesome and their recent new tooled aircraft are as good as any manufacturers. |

Recently broke out the Sherwood Castle set for my 4-year old g'son. Forgot how much simple fun was packed in those kits, what a source for archers the Robin Hood set was and what a PITA FUBAR those mounted bases were. The Airfix stuff may be old and dated, but it brings back fond memories and keeps the boy occupied for hours. |

So will this be stuff out of tired old moulds, with flash and sunken holes and extra lumps, or have they cleaned them up at all? |

Too many parts for the modern wargamer. The infantry figures, I think HaT had the production rights for a while. The Germans were good, the others, were more miss than hit. |

Tired old moulds. And remember, I speak as someone who has a shed load of Airfix, for both Naps and WW2, and some of the ancient Britons will be Gauls in the Punic Wars. So I am not an Airfix knocker, but I just wish they would be brave and properly release some figures worth having to modern standards |

Did they really show that Panther box with one fighting in Africa? Well, that bodes unwell :-) I remember that I had some of those infantry boxes some 40 years ago, but I have the inkling that having them back in my hands will just destroy the nostalgia… |

From memory Matchbox showed the Panther in the desert too. Might be good news for us retro types if they released the ACW figures. I would certainly buy them and start again with Terry Wise's Airfix rules – nearest I will get to a time machine! As far as kits are concerned, some 1/32 cars would be welcome. I would kill for the Sunbeam Rapier. OK, perhaps too strong. Swap the wife instead. And the kids. |
