The Japanese grew some impressive facial hair back in the day. One of the IJA commanders in Burma (Kawabe) had a mighty stache, though it didn't seem to help him much in the end. link

Finally, someone once quipped that the Sikh Khalsa – at the time of their two slugfests with the British in India – was possibly the hairiest army in history. Not sure such a thing is provable, but even inspiring a comment like this in the "Age of Whiskers" is still noteworthy!

… the gypsy vanner (and a few other breeds of horse) grow beards and moustaches. Unless you deal with those specific breeds, this is pretty bizarre.
