I liked the earlier Sean Connery 007 films.

Roger Moore made the character into one big joke. The rest fell somewhere in between.

I like the whole series. "Goldfinger" my favorite. Escapist entertainment before the words were "coined"/"shaken not stirred".

thumbs up

Good job this is filed under "utter drivel".

James Bond is the greatest action hero ever. There. I've said it.

Roger Moore's eyebrow should have been nominated for an Oscar.

I think before one makes an open and all inclusive statement like worst action hero, some other factors need to be considered; First and foremost, Ian Fleming's original stories.

There are many dimensions to the character of James Bond, not to mention the evolution of the character over time. Motion picture is perhaps the most gaudy and superfluous media, intended for entertainment. I don't recall Glidrose productions ever stating that the content was intended to portray an action hero or have any socially redeeming content for that matter.

Second; Whoever classified the character of James Bond as an "action hero"? Anyone who ever read The Spy Who Loved Me knows that the creator of James Bond never intended him to be any kind of hero.

I could go on but I don't think much argument needs to be presented to show how shallow Quinton Darby's Cracked article really is. This is the stuff of middle-school news web-sites.

I am a fan of the Bond character and a bigger fan of Ian Fleming. I find that anyone who makes criticisms in jest or seriously, using their own self-invented criteria of entertainment, and with any office whatsoever, to be banal.

Regardless most of the Bond films were pretty entertaining …

The nature of CRACKED, a weak ripoff of the MAD Magazine format, needs no introduction. It is not worth the dead trees of a Stevens Point paper mill. However juvenile the magazine, the statement was made and deserves rebuttal, lest a portion of the population, well criticized in contemporary times, believe it.
