…Evidence. "The purpose of this article is not to prove or disapprove the existence of giants in the distant past. Many modern people do believe giants once roamed the Earth, although most mainstream scholars will say the existence of ancient giants is doubtful due to lack of their remains. Instead of debating this issue, we will focus our attention on the Bible that clearly states mighty giants constructed several cities in modern day Syria, Israel and Palestine…." Not interested in the article. But apply the same type of context that you would reading a historical document about war. I am 5'7", the lower limit of the first standard deviation of modern first world male height (depending on what data you use, but this is generally a broadly representative description). That means I am either the shortest average height man or the tallest short man. So, a medium shirt fits, but most of the time, they are baggy. By regulation, 5'7" was the average height for a Roman solider (again, depending on the anthropologist/historian at hand). Ancient soldiers tended to be selected from the taller parts of the population. So, I would have to ask the quartermaster for a large lorica segmentata when I went through the line. While the above info is not precise, it is accurate. And the big gap as opposed to overlap means most men in my office would qualify as "giants" to people in the Early Roman Empire. |

Yeah … I see that type of stuff on Ancient Aliens all the time … Much of is "fanciful conjecture", IMO, but is none the less entertaining. Which is the bottom line for TV shows like that … entertaining = $$$$. Of course I always wonder how some of those very big/huge stones got moved around, etc. That weight many tons … But I'm still not ready to say it was giants, aliens, giant aliens, Big Foot(s), etc. …

Moving big stones around was an ancient workfare program. After you make a few strides in agriculture and preservation of meat and before the big population burst, you don't want people just standing around wondering what makes you king instead of them… |
