Any ideas? It has me stumped ATM. Especially as it would be nice to have those long plumes…

Looks like another conversion project, but if someone has gone down that path before I would be interested in what you did.

Cheers

Well I have to say if that is what you get when asking 'any ideas' I am impressed. The question was 'Proxies for Russian Jaegers 10mm?'
So far Knight of Shrouds on Ethereal Steed is my only hope, but alas no plume…

Glad to see the Napoleonic players getting into AoS.

Two great looking sets. And those ghosts look fantastic and fragile.

I'm so getting this. I've been toying with the idea of starting a Death army for months now anyway.

Sold.

Also there is this:

Those Spell Effects are great and I'll definitely be after a set of those fantasy scenics.

Already plenty. Napoleonics gamers pretty drive the Age of Sail gaming genre. Most AoS rules sets only go back as far as the 1790s, despite the minimal adjustments necessary to cover the AWI.

The most useful of the fantasy scenery to me is the chained rock thing. That would make a great objective is a game with one side trying to unleash it and the other side trying to stop them. It could be a great start for a campaign.

After that probably the ax in the statue as a sort of Excalibur-like weapon with a champion of Khorne trying to lay claim to his right to rule as Bloodking or Gorelord or whatever and the ax being magical. Then the enemy, Stormcast or Tzeentch or whatever, is trying to prevent that or even trying to destroy the ax itself.

If you were running a campaign you could put something in that would allow them to destroy the ax but didn't know that the ax housed a bloodthirster and even though the Bloodbound would lose the game, the defenders might all be slaughtered with the release of the daemon.

Cool enough scenery makes scenario design very easy.

The spell effects are just cool and I've been buying a bunch of the translucent Reaper Bones pieces to mark units that have spells or special abilities put on them.

Ah the Bug! The Pain in the Butt that keeps on being, a Pain in the Butt!

Giles the Zog07 Jun 2018 4:16 a.m. PST

The scenery and spell effect pieces look good for frost grave.

I like the chained rock, too.

I could picture the axe in the head being a scenario where if one side can pull the axe out, the head turns into the real head of a giant, who joins their side. Obviously would be about balancing, where one side is weaker than the other, but if they can do this deed, can be stronger than the other.

I think a few other folks have done spell effects. Reaper has a few. These are interesting. I'm not sure whether having a miniature increases the imaginative part of it, though. You can have infinite effects if you are just imagining them.

Are those castigators in pre-bardin uniform ? Does that mean they are not suitable for Waterloo and 100 days campaign ? Seems like they don't have enough buttons to me.

Pictors Studio07 Jun 2018 6:54 a.m. PST

I'm not a huge fan of the Castigators. Out of that whole boxed set I probably actually wouldn't end up painting them and, if I needed more missile troops, would probably paint another unit of bow-armed Judicators instead. None of the cross bow armed stormcast appeal to me.

I'm not sure about the bolt thrower either.

It is difficult to see the buttons on them to tell but even if I don't like the models they seem more appropriate for Peninsula than the 100 days. I wouldn't use them for anything later than Ocana.

Mithmee07 Jun 2018 12:29 p.m. PST

Well you could just scrap the crossbow and give them a Bolter and use them as Space Marines because that is what they are.

Pictors Studio08 Jun 2018 7:09 a.m. PST

It looks like the set is going to be $160 USD just like Dark Imperium. Not a bad price, 55 models plus the rules for 160. If you were only buying if for the models they would be less than $3 USD each.

The spell set looks like it will be about $60 USD which also isn't a bad price given all the stuff you get in there.

Mike Petro09 Jun 2018 4:12 p.m. PST

I thought the bug was just retaliation against the Napoleonics boards….for…you know….liking Napoleonics.
